2009 E-learning Innovations projects - Northern Territory

In 2009, five projects have been awarded a total of $237,000 to deliver innovative e-learning solutions to remote and regional Indigenous learners in the Northern Territory. The successful projects all meet the Northern Territory's vocational education and training (VET) priorities.

Northern Territory's E-learning Innovations projects for 2009 are:

PowerUp Plus
This project builds on a tool begun last year that assists Indigenous people with existing interest and skills in technology, multimedia, art, film and music to increase their skills and/or move into training or facilitating training. PowerUp Plus will prepare them for future work opportunities and serve as a resource that can be used for their own learning, and/or for training purposes. Ru4 Real

Based largely around the remote Indigenous Arnhemland community of Oenpelli, this project will develop and contextualise multimedia tools for the delivery of three modules of the accredited Youth Work Training Package.

Two schools, Taminmin High School and Alyangula Area School on Groote Eylandt, will collaborate to utilise e-learning resources to improve engagement and learning outcomes in VET for remote Indigenous youth, and also in strengthening school to work pathways. Existing conservation and land management learning objects will be contextualised to address the barriers to learning.

Build IT Up

This project will modify content from the Build Right Toolbox to better engage Indigenous learners in the building and construction industry and document change management processes to move a private provider to a blended training delivery solution.

Working with remote schools in central Australia, this project will modify Retail Toolbox content to support Indigenous learners to gain a Certificate I in Retail skills.
