There are four vocational areas associated with Garma, these are:

  • Construction
  • Multimedia
  • Tourism - specifically tour guiding
  • Music

The key theme for this year's festival is the Creative Industries.

Day 2 - 8 August 2009

The Yilpara boys of the Garrangali (crocodile nesting territory) Band are working with the multimedia students from Charles Darwin University to cut a music video, here at Garma.

Getting a different perspective of playing in a band Brendan Marik on keyboard and Dion Wanambi on the drums wore Point of View glasses. The footage will be used in the music video.

Connectivity here at the Garma site has been challenging. Upload speeds increased from 0.46MB/s to 1.74MB/s once a high gain antenae was plugged into a Next G Wireless modem. This gave us the ability to upload directly from the site. Roger Bryett's 2 1/2 minute video was uploaded and streaming within 3 minutes. Word from the CDU MALU is that they have 40MB/s available through Satellite connectivity.

High gain antennae + Modem + = CONNECTIVITY
