2009 E-learning Innovations projects - South Australia

$481,200 has been awarded to develop and manage 14 projects that will deliver innovative e-learning training solutions in South Australia (SA) in 2009.   The successful projects are tailored to South Australian vocational education and training (VET) priorities.

This project will use Second Life to deliver Women's Education to women trying to
re-enter the workforce.

Using a 'Sloodle' site (Moodle and Second Life), this project aims to integrate communication units into roleplays for Indigenous 'outbush' learners.

Focusing on low literacy workers in regional and remote areas, this project will develop online materials (video etc) to support the Civil Construction trade area.

Common Ground Elearning

Based upon the development of a free, open access website containing learning objects that link to accredited units, but in a format suitable for previously homeless people (or those at risk), this project is planned as a model and will be part of a university longitudinal study.

e-learning approach, suited to the context of school-based agriculture trainees, located in regional and remote locations.

A Fish called Guido

Using technology-based cloud computing, this project will develop a learning model to effectively deliver units of competency in water management to regional students.

Using Second Life and Sloodle to provide an immersive environment, learners will also be able to develop Machinima (films) which will be utilised as learning objects for Youth Work course components.

This project will develop an online tool to update disability carers with mandated knowledge on abuse and ethical issues across various awards.
