GETTING CONNECTED 09 focuses on fostering online connections between vocational education and training (VET) practitioners and ways
to effectively engage learners in e-learning options within the VET system. The mini-focus on sessions for Day 1, Tuesday 16 June is 'networking online'; and for Day 2, Wednesday 17 June is 'engaging learners'.

Opening Address
Sue Lapham is currently General Manager, WestOne Services (WestOne) at DET. WestOne provides practical support to education and training practitioners through the development of, and access to, K-12 curriculum resources and vocational education and training learning materials. WestOne also publishes and manages intellectual property.
Sue has maintained her commitment to equitable access to information and lifelong learning opportunities in her second career in education and training. Sue has a Bachelor of Applied Science and part completion of a Masters in Human Resources. She is currently the WA representative on the Flexible Learning Advisory Group.

Fiona Johnson is a Project Manager at WestOne Services and manages the development of resources for both VET and
K-12 sectors. In 2008, Fiona led the team that developed a Toolbox, Splash, for Certificate I in Water Sustainability, and
currently looks after the WestOne repository that contributes to LORN. This year, she has been working with the Access to
E-learning Knowledge Know-how team at WestOne on the development of the new Flexible Learning Framework website.

Cathy Baxter manages the e-Events and Communities of Practice aspect of the Access to E-learning Knowledge and Know-how business activity. She has worked in the professional development arena in e-learning over many years, including as Project Manager of the E-learning Networks Project in 2005-2007. Cathy has an on-going interest in current e-learning developments and issues of the VET sector, and has 'hands on' expertise in online facilitation in both asynchronous and virtual classroom forums.

Demystifying the VET Reload tool
Simon Lismann is based at e-Works in Melbourne, and is a project manager and technical officer for the Framework's
E-standards for Training Business Activity.
Prior to joining e-Works last year, Simon worked in a number of roles at Monash University, embedding, supporting and exploring the use of technology in education.
Baiting the Digital Hook
Sue Waters is well known globally for her role in supporting educators in their use of web and mobile technologies with students.
Her inquisitive nature in combination with her 'trial by practice' approach has made her a leading innovator in
e-learning.
Sue's passion for technology has lead to transition from aquaculture lecturer at Challenger TAFE, to facilitating e-learning
and web 2.0 technologies PD workshops to her current role as editor of The Edublogger and working for Edublogs as Edublogs Community Facilitator. She works closely with all educational sectors and has facilitated several
large global Web 2.0 projects. Sue provides practical e-learning "how-to's" through her sites including The Edublogger, PLN Yourself wiki, her personal blog and podcast site.

More than just 'putting materials online' - educational design for the online environment
Melanie feels like she has lived about 100 lives before making in into the VET Sector. She studied too much, became unemployable and worked in retail (for about 12 years), manufacturing (factories, ouch), call centres and overseas before she realised her calling in the VET sector and settled into TAFE SA. She spent 3 years working in a fee for service workgroup, designing programs for Industry clients, with a focus on language, literacy and numeracy and has been working as an Educational Designer at the TAFE SA Production House for 2 years.
Moodle for Dummies
Richard has worked in e-Learning since 2000 and has focussed his attention on training and developing Moodle sites for organisations around Australia. He has his Moodle Teachers Certificate (MTC) and facilitates regular Moodle courses both in Australia (face to face and online) and Canada (online). Online Assessments, grading, tracking and reporting out of Moodle are a key interest for Richard.
The Learning Design Tool
Linda is the manager of Holmesglen's Learning Innovation and Development Department (LID) Linda has extensive experience in the production of online, multimedia and print materials She has customised training programs, online development and professional development projects within LID. Linda takes an innovative approach to all projects drawing together development and delivery strategies that include blended delivery approaches that suit the client and participants. She and the LID team are able to manage complex projects from the initial concept to completion.
The Learning Design Tool
Jo is a key member of the E-learning Development Team, with responsibility for ensuring the educational quality of e-learning resources and programs developed and managed by the team at e-Works - including Flexible Learning Toolboxes. One of her key projects has been the Learning Design Tool.
Jo is experienced in managing a range of learning solutions - from stakeholder briefing to engagement, Instructional design, and evaluating learning outcomes - to a diverse range of client groups. She has developed a strong understanding of instructional design principles and has been successful in producing interactive and innovative learning solutions.

Adrian is Executive Officer of the MPA Tasmania. The MPA is an RTO delivering AQF4 licensing units and specific OH&S and environmental units on line.
Adrian is a Moodle enthusiast who takes pride in the integration of day2day business function with eLearn capacity.
