Top End Groove: e-learning ...
Project summary
Top End Groove aims to establish a cultural tourism business and training network spanning the north of Australia from the Kimberley region in Western Australia across the Northern Territory to North Queensland. The project aims to develop and grow Indigenous and cultural tourism businesses through the use of technology and e-learning by enabling knowledge sharing, improving access to skills training and creating a central point for promotion and marketing Indigenous tourism.
Top End Groove is being managed by the Cultural, Recreation and Tourism Training Advisory Council (CHARTTES) in the Northern Territory in partnership with Charles Darwin University, Kimberley TAFE in Western Australia and Mount Isa Institute of TAFE in Queensland.
The project will begin with three e-learning professional development workshops with tourism operators and potential tourism operators to discuss the training needs of Indigenous businesses. The workshops will also demonstrate various e-learning tools and resources to support those needs. The project will then move on to develop an 'e-community of practice' to share knowledge and experiences and the Top End Groove website. A range of e-learning resources and programs will be trialled and adapted during the project to suit the differing and specialised needs of Indigenous tourism operators.
